About Dan

Dan Aymar-Blair was elected Dutchess County Comptroller in 2024 and began serving his first term in January 2025. As Comptroller, Dan serves as the County’s financial watchdog, protecting taxpayer dollars and improving government efficiency and accountability

Before being elected Comptroller, Dan served on the Beacon City Council from 2020 to 2024, where he championed smart infrastructure investments, including sidewalks, bike lanes, park improvements, and the newly renovated Beacon Firehouse. He also successfully advocated for housing policy reforms, electrification initiatives, and better public safety and emergency response capabilities for Beacon residents.

Dan worked for New York City Public Schools for fifteen years in finance and operations, where he rose to become a senior leader, including Senior Executive Director of Operations. Dan managed multimillion-dollar budgets and spearheaded major operational improvements, including streamlining business operations for the city’s special education program. His leadership ensured that critical resources reached students and schools efficiently. In his tenure, Dan implemented cost-saving measures, improved financial oversight, and strengthened accountability at the largest public education system in the United States. Dan stepped down from Beacon City Council and left NYC Public Schools to dedicate his time to the job of Dutchess County Comptroller.

A sixth-generation New Yorker, Dan grew up in Saratoga Springs, where he learned the values of hard work and public service from his father, a Hudson River tugboat captain, and his mother, a nurse. He attended George Washington University, studying political science and government while working two jobs. Dan lives in Beacon with his wife and two sons.
